Why are both the 2.0T ,it differs 100 horsepower ?

Nowadays, many automakers will make a big fuss about the engine when they introduce new models.
For example, the same engine will launch two different versions of low power and high power.
So is there any essential difference between these different power versions? Still completely a problem with computer programs? Today, let's talk about the difference between high and low power engines.

What is the difference between the same engine high and low power?

The reason why manufacturers divide the same engine into two different power versions, in addition to distinguishing the difference between high and low, another reason is to save money.

This can save a lot of research and development, production costs!
Therefore, using the same engine to provide different power output has become the mainstream of today.

It can be said that before, the same engine high and low power version did have hardware differences, such as the BMW 3 Series of the F30 generation.

Although both the 320i and 328i use the same N20 2.0T engine, the high-power version is completely different from the low-power version in the connecting rod and piston.

The piston compression ratio of the 320i is 11:1, while the compression ratio of the 328i is 10:1. It is important to know that different compression ratios directly affect combustion efficiency, so there are many differences in the power of the car.
However, today's 2018 BMW 320i and 330i, apart from the computer program, there is no difference in hardware. And now most high and low power models have no essential difference in engine hardware.

The reason why high and low power will occur depends entirely on the manufacturer's different adjustments to the vehicle ECU computer and the difference in heat dissipation.
Can low power be brushed into high power?
In theory, if your car does not differ from the high-power version on the engine hardware, you can achieve high power by brushing the ECU. But also pay attention to the points.

First, this self-upgrading of vehicle power can violate regulations and can also result in emissions that are not up to standard. And 4S stores will refuse. The vehicle that has brushed the ECU computer, if there is any problem, the 4S shop can refuse to provide the warranty.

Second, the quality of gasoline is higher after the vehicle's power is increased. For example, if you only added 92# gasoline, you may need to add 95# gasoline after brushing the ECU computer. Of course, many computer programs nowadays can be specially adapted for low-grade gasoline according to your car environment. However, in most cases, it is recommended that you choose high-grade gasoline to avoid engine knock.

Third, the low-power models are brushed to high power, and as the vehicle's power is increased, it is likely to cause long-term overheating of the engine. In extreme cases, damage may occur to the internal parts of the engine.

Summary: Although the low-power version of the model brush ECU can improve the power, but there is no auxiliary assistance on the hardware, it is useless. Therefore, it is recommended that if you really pursue the power of the vehicle, in order to stabilize all aspects, it is more worry-free to buy the high-power version directly.
